As gas prices climb ever higher and the environment is bigger concern, it is becoming more and more important to get the best gas mileage that you can. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to squeeze a bir more distance out of your regular full tank of gas.   1. Make sure that your tires are properly inflated

    It sounds odd, but yes your tire pressure makes a huge difference. Make sure you check monthly, especially in the winter when colder temperatures cause lower air density.
  2. Ensure that you are using the correct motor oil

    . This is especially important in colder climates where the oil viscosity can vary wildy due to temperature. Always make sure that you have the correct oil in your engine. This prevents it from having to work too hard and waste gas.
  3. Change your air filters

    This is a big one. Like you, your engine needs air to operate properly. You don’t like having a a bunch of congestion and neither does your vehicle. Keeping your air filter fresh and clean makes a huge difference to your gas mileage.
  4. Fill up when it is cooler out

    Since you buy your gas by volume, not weight, you actually get more of it when you buy during cooler periods of the day. The fuel you get will be more dense and therefore you are getting a better deal. This generally means you should fill up in the morning or the evening – which one will depend on Dan’s prediction for the next day!
